Defying A Power of Hell

Something that I have been thinking about a lot lately is laziness. Oh how easy it is to live a lazy life. Yet, in doing so, we are going entirely against the word of God, and who are we to stand against one who is worthy of our lives, and therefore our time?

The bible has a great deal to say about laziness.

"The soul of the lazy man desires and has nothing; but the soul of the diligent shall be made rich." (Proverbs 13:4) I think this can also apply to our spiritual richness. If we do not hunger and thirst after Jesus and earnestly seek His face, then we will not receive anything. But if we are diligent in seeking after Him and calling upon His name, then we shall gain much!

Many modern day Christians wonder what happened to the God of old...
Nothing happened to the God of old. He is unchanging, everlasting, and He is faithful until the end! (1 Cor. 1:9; Heb. 13:8)

The real question is this: what happened to the Christianity of old? You did not see true Christians back then sitting around eating popcorn and watching a movie did you? Tell me one great hero of faith who sat on facebook for hours on end, or one who began a great revival while sleeping in until late hours of the morning. Did you ever hear of a great prayer warrior or intercessor who played games because of pure boredom? Not once have I ever heard of one who did so. I am going to say something that many would consider to be extremely bold, I am going to say it quite bluntly.

It is impossible to bear the very image of Christ while having a lazy spirit. Slothfulness violates God's purpose - good works. The Lord however empowers Christians to overcome the flesh's propensity to laziness by clothing us in Christ. Trust me, I fully understand how easy it is to be lazy, it is what my flesh leads me to do. It is part of our sinful nature. Yet, our loving God has clearly showed us that there is another option - He gave His life for us.We are a new nature! If we truly are surrendered, and we are clothed in righteousness then get this:

"If anyone is in Christ, he is a new creation. The old has passed away; behold, the new has come!" 2 Corinthians 5:17

Free from sickness, sorrow, and sin - even laziness - the saints will glorify the Lord forever. And if He is glorified, then I am truly content.

Amy Carmichael once said, "What is the secret to great living? Entire separation to Christ and devotion to Him. Thus speaks every man and woman whose life has made more than a passing flicker in the spiritual realm. It is the life that has no time for trifling that counts."

"Therefore, my dear brothers, stand firm. Let nothing move you. Always give yourselves fully to the work of the Lord, because you know that your labor in the Lord is not in vain." 1 Corinthians 15:58 "Let us not be weary in doing good, for at the proper time we will reap a harvest if we do not give up. Therefore, as we have opportunity, let us do good to all people, especially to those who belong to the family of believers." Galatians 6:9-10

I know that this is long, but thank you so much for reading. I truly hope that it inspires you, and deeply convicts moves you! It takes courage to stand against the crowds and turn around from living a life as a lazy person, but we are to "die daily" to self... God will do the rest! Please comment if there is anything that is biblically incorrect, as I always want to be in alignment with scriptures. I love you all so much, in Christ Jesus and for His glory and renown,
