Keep Your Eyes Upon Jesus

'Wherefore seeing we also are compassed about with so great a cloud of witnesses, let us lay aside every weight, and the sin which doth so easily beset [us], and let us run with patience the race that is set before us, looking unto Jesus the author and finisher of [our] faith; Who for the joy that was set before Him endured the cross, despising the shame, and is set down at the right Hand of God. For consider Him that endured such contradiction of sinners against Himself lest ye be wearied and faint in your minds.' Hebrews 12:1-3
'And straightway Jesus constrained his disciples to get into a ship, and to go before him unto the other side, while he sent the multitudes away. And when he had sent the multitudes away, hewent up into a mountain apart to pray: and when the evening was come, he was there alone. But the ship was now in the midst of the sea, tossed with waves: for the wind was contrary. And in the fourth watch of the night Jesus went unto them, walking on the sea. And when the disciples saw him walking on the sea, they were troubled, saying, It is a spirit; and they cried out for fear. But straightway Jesus spake unto them, saying, Be of good cheer; it is I; be not afraid. And Peter answered him and said, Lord, if it be thou, bid me come unto thee on the water. And he said, Come. And when Peter was come down out of the ship, he walked on the water, to go to Jesus. But when he saw the wind boisterous, he was afraid; and beginning to sink, he cried, saying, Lord, save me. And immediately Jesus stretched forth [his] hand, and caught him, and said unto him, O thou of little faith, wherefore didst thou doubt? And when they were come into the ship, the wind ceased. Then they that were in the ship came and worshiped him, saying, Of a truth thou art the Son of God.' Matthew 14:22-33
 This scripture has really stood out to me for some time now. When Peter turned around to face the winds and the waves, it was then that he began to sink. He did walk on water, but only when his eyes were fixed on Jesus. Whatever Peter was focused on began to consume him. It is the same with you and I. Whatever we are focused on, will consume us.

Oh, Christians, let our eyes be fixed on our Saviour so that we might be consumed with He who is worthy! It takes no effort to become obsessed with this world, with our fleshly desires and especially with our self! Let us not look to the left or to the right, but keep our eyes steadily focused on Him alone. We will truly sink if we look towards the troubles that are around us, and yes, there will be storms in our lives, but if we are staring into the eyes of our Redeemer, trusting in Him, then He will be faithful to give us the strength to endure trials as He promised.

No matter what happens, we must remember that God is absolutely sovereign.That's hard to remember when evil seems to prevail, but trust Jesus and know that God is in control! Never ever forget that! We may currently be under the Refiner's fire, but it must be so; for He is purging out the impurity. And He will purge the Kingdom of all that offends!

Don't focus on the troubled water, and be consumed by it! Live your life according to God's Word; keep your eyes on Jesus and put your trust in Him, and you'll be on top of the troubled waters! Because right out there in the middle of all that trouble is the Rock of Ages, and He is a firm foundation!

Remember always, my dear friends, to be concentrated on Him. Prayer is the way in which we look to Christ.     Praying alone or in Christian fellowship will keep our emphasis on Him! As we keep our eyes upon Jesus, we will be changed changed into His likeness!  I love you all dearly. Remember to look towards your Beloved. He is worthy, always! Blessings in Christ Jesus, for the King and His glory alone,

O soul, are you weary and troubled?
No light in the darkness you see?
There's light for a look at the Savior,
And life more abundant and free.

Turn your eyes upon Jesus,
Look full in His wonderful face,
And the things of earth will grow strangely dim,
In the light of His glory and grace.

Through death into life everlasting
He passed, and we follow Him there;
O'er us sin no more hath dominion
For more than conquerors' we are.

His Word shall not fail you, He promised;
Believe Him and all will be well;
Then go to a world that is dying,
His perfect salvation to tell!
